Welcome to our quick-fire spotlight on industry leaders and entrepreneurs in Property.

In this edition, Jeremy Gee, Managing Director at Beauchamp Estates, shares personal insights and experiences with anyone who may be currently working in or aspiring to join the London property industry.

What are you most proud of in your career?

Without a doubt, the people I have had the privilege to work with. From two industry icons – Trevor Abrahmsohn and Gary Hersham – to the exceptional teams I have had the pleasure of building and leading over the years, they have all made it deeply rewarding.

First property job and how you got it?

My first role was as an office administrator (read: chief photocopier) in a tiny first-floor office on Hampstead High Street, back in 1983. My best friend’s father was a property developer, and after I was “encouraged” to leave school early, he wasted no time – setting up five interviews for me within a week.

What motivates you?

Today, it’s the great people I work alongside. But throughout my career, the constant has been a desire to build meaningful, lasting relationships with clients – that’s always been my focus.

Best advice for preparing for an interview?

Be yourself – and be relaxed. People respond to authenticity far more than a rehearsed script.

What advice would you give your 18-year-old self?

Buy more property. And don’t sell too soon!

Which leader, entrepreneur, founder, or CEO inspires you?

Jeff Bezos. I have read every book I can find on him. His approach to leadership and long-term thinking is completely unique – and truly thought-provoking.

Your best deal?

I have been lucky to work on many significant and fascinating deals, including some of the largest sales in London, and it’s not always about the price. One standout was a complex use-class swap in Hampstead: getting a care home and a residential property to switch functions. It involved Camden Council, a suite of planning consultants, and a team of lawyers. Getting that over the line felt like a small miracle but a huge accomplishment.

What’s your favourite restaurant?

LPM in Brooks Mews, Mayfair. Consistently excellent.

Apple or Android?

Apple – always.
