60 Seconds with...
Welcome to our quick-fire spotlight on industry leaders and entrepreneurs in Property.
In this edition, Alex Casaki, Director of Dalham Management shares his personal insights and experiences with anyone who may be currently working in or aspiring to join the London property industry.
What are you most proud of in your career?
I am most proud of having built a trusted reputation over many years within my private client base, one that ultimately led to the creation of Dalham.
While transactional milestones are important markers of success, what I value most is the level of trust clients place in me. When clients consistently seek your advice and expertise across all aspects of their personal and property matters, it reflects a deeper confidence in your judgment and integrity. That trust is, without question, the most rewarding achievement of my career, and has allowed Dalham to grow primarily through referrals.
First property job and how you got it?
My first role in property was overseeing a few traditional London HMO buildings, quite a contrast to the properties the Dalham team is fortunate to oversee today. I took this position very early in my career, drawn by the opportunity to work in a hands on enviroment rather than being confined to a desk.
It was undoubtedly challenging, especially at such a young age but it proved invaluable as it exposed me to every aspect of property management. Most importantly, it taught me how to manage matters effectively and to take full responsibility for the decisions I made and the outcomes that followed.
To this day, I contuine to draw on the lessons and insight gained during that period. As the saying goes, when you learn a business from the ground up, you develop a genuine understanding of every role within it and that perspective has stayed with me throughout my career.
What motivates you?
Finding solutions to challenges that may seem impossible to others. I firmly believe with enough
persistence there is always a solution to be found.
Best advice for preparing for an interview?
Be confident in yourself and always demonstrate your determination to learn what you do not know.
What advice would you give your 18-year-old self?
Surround yourself with people who challenge you, inspire you and help you grow.
Which leader, entrepreneur, founder, or CEO inspires you?
I have been fortunate to work with many high profile and successful entrepreneurs and have noticed their ability to see long term value in something when others are distracted by short term noise. This approach inspires me to maintain a long-term perspective and focus on the bigger picture in my own decisions.
Your best deal?
While ultra-high value transactions are always memorable, my personal “best deal” isn’t a single transaction. It’s the long term relationships and friendships that have grown from those deals.
Those connections are far more rewarding than any one sale. In my role as a trusted advisor, I have the privilege of working closely with ultra high net worth individuals, families and their family offices, which allows me to truly get to know them on a personal level.
Over time, that foundation turns into lasting friendships and a strong, close-knit network that extends well beyond any property transaction.
What’s your favourite restaurant?
Scallini, especially on a cold gloomy London day.
Apple or Android?
Apple always, has not let me down yet.
