As the business continues to grow, they're looking to appoint an experienced Senior Underwriter with proven bridging finance expertise and experience mentoring junior underwriters. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in lending decisions while helping to develop the underwriting team.
The Role:
You'll take ownership of bridging finance applications from enquiry through to completion, assessing risk and making commercially sound lending decisions. Working closely with brokers, borrowers, solicitors and valuers, you'll ensure cases progress efficiently while maintaining excellent service and high underwriting standards.
Alongside managing your own pipeline, you'll mentor and support junior underwriters, sharing your technical expertise and helping to develop the team's capability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Underwrite bridging loan applications from enquiry through to completion
- Assess credit risk, applicant financials, property security and loan viability
- Review valuations, legal documentation, Land Registry information and supporting due diligence
- Present lending recommendations to Credit and Investment Committees
- Build strong relationships with brokers, borrowers, solicitors, valuers and other stakeholders
- Mentor, coach and develop junior underwriters, providing day-to-day technical guidance
- Contribute to continuous improvements across underwriting processes and service delivery
- What We're Looking For
- Proven experience underwriting bridging finance cases within a specialist property finance lender
- Strong knowledge of real estate lending, credit risk and underwriting principles
- Experience reviewing property valuations, legal documentation and Land Registry information
- Excellent analytical, commercial and decision-making skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Previous experience mentoring, coaching, training or managing junior underwriters or underwriting team members. This is an essential requirement for the role.
