Recruitment of a sales manager in esher

Introduction:

This case study is a testament to our core values. It is evidence that we believe in doing business with manners and building relationships that stand the test of time. We pride ourselves in our ability to place people in businesses where they can belong and flourish, not just work. We listen to our clients and candidates are focus on understanding their requirements, desires and concerns. We work hard to deliver meaningful outcomes and act in a fair and responsible way, which enables individuals and companies to succeed and do great things.

Setting the Scene:

A leading estate agency contacted us requesting help to find a Sales Manager for their Esher office. They sought a Sales Manager with a proven track record of team leadership, with experience in increasing market share and preferably with knowledge of Prime Central London (PCL) real estate.

We have built a strong reputation as a leading property recruiter in London and Hertfordshire, but are less known outside this region. Therefore this was a great opportunity to show our client that our meticulous approach and extensive experience also allows us to deliver outside of our core geographical area.

Our Approach:

Our journey began by closely collaborating with our client to fully grasp their unique requirements and long-term aspirations. Through in-depth discussions, we managed to uncover the specific skill set, experience and qualities required for the Sales Manager position.

Next Steps:

Market Mapping

With a clear understanding of the client’s needs, we conducted an extensive market mapping exercise. We meticulously studied the profiles of current Sales Managers within the industry, to identify individuals with a proven track record of increasing market share, an in-depth knowledge of the real estate market and those who demonstrated an ability to foster a culture of excellence within a sales team. Location also played a pivotal role in this search, given that the client operated from a location outside of central London, but knowledge of PCL was desirable.

Candidate Outreach

Having compiled a list of what we considered the top 10 to 20 candidates, we began reaching out to them. This involved personalised, engaging conversations to gauge their interest and suitability for the role.

Shortlisting

Through a meticulous shortlisting process, we narrowed down the list to the top three candidates, whom we presented to the client. We ensured that the final choices aligned closely with the client’s requirements and were a good match for the company’s values. The client was impressed with the shortlisted candidates they met and felt that one especially was a great fit for the role, and an offer was promptly made.

Challenges:

Once we had an offer agreed the candidate started to feel slightly overwhelmed at the thought of moving to a new role and company. To address this, we provided support by facilitating open conversations and informal meetings. This helped reassure the candidate and provided them with the confidence and security they needed to accept the offer, safe in the knowledge that they are making a positive step in their real estate career.

Outcome:

The candidate joined the business and excelled in their role, going from strength to strength. They have quickly become a vital player in the company's success, currently leading one of the agency's top-performing offices in the UK. Their exceptional performance and leadership abilities have earned them recognition as a future leader within the company.

Final Observation:

Empathy is critical in recruitment.

Making life changing decisions can be difficult and a candidate may falter, but a great recruitment agency (and employer) needs to act with patience and understanding. They must offer support for the candidate, facilitate conversations and help the candidate know for definite that they are making the right decision. A candidate needs to be sure that this career move is right for them, which in term will ensure that they immerse themselves in the new role and achieve great things.
